Why You Might Need a Daypack
When the time comes to bug out, you have to have a daypack. You’re going to need this in addition to your full backpack.
Having a daypack gives you the freedom to be able to take essential supplies and safety gear when you’re going on a shorter run, like once you’ve reached your bug out shelter and you’re going out to do some hunting or to gather stuff that you need. It’s also good for when you’re scouting the area around where you’ve bugged out to in order to do perimeter sweeps.
Not every bag is suitable as a daypack bag. You need to have one that’s lightweight so that it doesn’t hinder you as you’re on the move.
It also needs to be designed in a way that makes it easy for you to be able to access the items you’ve brought along.
You have to have a daypack that’s sturdy, too. You need it to be around for as long as you’re on the move. It has to be able to withstand rough terrain, changing temperatures, quick grabs and getting slung around in the case of an emergency.
A cheaply made daypack that will fall apart at the first use or two will leave you in a bind. So make sure you get a solid one. In a pinch, your daypack is all that could stand between you and a serious injury or a life threatening situation.
When you’re trying to decide which bag to get, make sure that it has the room you need. But you also want to make sure that it’s comfortable to carry. It should fit well, too.
The straps on the bag should be wide enough to distribute weight evenly. You’ll want to look for a bag that has many compartments so that you’ll be able to have an organized place for all your supplies and gear.
One mistake that some people make when it comes to a daypack is buying something that’s in a bright color – or has some kind of eye-catching design on it. You don’t want a bag like that.
Something that’s neon or flashy is only going to call attention to you. During a bug out, that’s the last thing you want to do. When you bring attention to yourself, someone who didn’t prepare might decide that he’s going to try to take whatever it is that you have.
You need a daypack that’s efficient and blends in rather than sticks out.
