What Does the Bible say about Being Prepared?
As the world continues to spiral into a financial abyss, more people are waking up to the importance of preparing both spiritually as well as physically. When difficult times fall upon the world, Christians who are prepared can be in a place to offer hope.
Certainly, the most important thing is to have your heart right with God and to have placed your trust in Jesus Christ. Once your heart is right, then it becomes your obligation to provide help to others in need.
The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) provides clear instruction that believers are to provide help to their neighbor.
The life of Joseph also provides an example of how God can use His people to help others overcome difficulties (Genesis 41).
Solomon suggests we look to the ant (Prov. 6:6-11) who gathers food and provides nourishment when it’s needed. It is those who do not learn from the ant (the sleeping sluggard) who will suffer poverty and want.
Besides sharing the saving grace of Jesus Christ, serving, saving, and sharing survival tips with others is perhaps the most noble and relevant activity Christians could be doing in today’s unpredictable world.
